Opalux Elastink for Identity Verification, Product Security and Authentication
Opalux has demonstrated reverse opal films that permit mechanical activation of optical properties from IR, through visible to the UV range. Opalux’s Elastink has the following features and potential:
- Activation by mechanical pressure by a human user without power assist.
- Mechanical activation requiring no electrical or network connection (off-net).
- Single (e.g.: product protection) and multiple (e.g.: identity cards) use.
- Customizable features and images, including time and validation period stamps for ready identification and to reduce transference.
- Customizable “readability” including UV or IR sensitivity and imaging to enhance security and performance characteristics.
- Very visible instant verification.
- Easy to adopt verification with natural human interface and minimal user training.
- Unique composition and fabrication make it difficult to counterfeit or forge.
Opalux would like to work with suitable partners to confirm the applicability and value of this technology and assist in accelerating the design and development of prototypes. Potential applications/customers are:
- Public card issuers such as federal or state authorities, from identity and access cards to driver’s licenses.
- Commercial card users such as credit, phone and cash card issuers.
- Military and high security application researchers and issuers interested in product security and 3D fingerprinting.
